Asklepion Spa draws its name from a rich heritage of healing by the ancient Greeks. The word, Asklepion (“a-sklep-e-on”) although at times a little challenging to pronounce and even more vexing to spell, defines the essence of our Wellness Spa. Here’s a little history …
Asklepios (“a-sklep-e-us”) was a Greek physician who combined surgery and herbs in the practice of natural medicine and healing. His near miraculous cures benefited sufferers from both major and minor ailments. Asklepios began as an historical figure, renowned for his impressive knowledge and healing abilities and was eventually elevated to the status of a god by the ancient Greeks because of his skill. Temples – or Asklepions – were built in his honour throughout the Mediterranean. The three most important historical Asklepions were Epidarus, Kos and Trikki.
Throughout history, you will be able to trace natural healing and wellness practiced by the great physicians such as Hippocrates to the Asklepions of their day. It is this principle of holistic healing that we bring to you at Asklepion Spa. We are proud to be part of such a rich heritage and we welcome you to experience our Asklepion.
